Small Business Council
The Small Business Council is made up of a diverse representation of passionate small business owners and leaders. The council’s purpose is to foster growth and networking for small businesses through targeted programs, such as mentorships, campaigns, and grants. Council members are charged with selecting and administering for our small business grant program as well. Additionally, the Small business Council will work to be a resource to entrepreneurs to aid in their challenges and struggles associated with small business growth.
They will provide direction and support for our community's entrepreneurship efforts by participating in and executing our Forward Opelika Initiative's "Grow Business & Quality Jobs" goal. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Develop small bsuiness training curriculum
- Launch mentorship program
- Create a small bsuiness advisory board & owner peer group
- Open a small business resource center within the new Opelika Chamber facility
- Form specialized roundtables/mstermind groups and meet regularly
Majority of our Opelika Chamber members are small businesses, so this council is one of the most important groups we have. The SBC serves as the bridge between the small business community & the chamber. This bridge helps us work harder to ensure that the services we offer meet their needs. We are actively advocating for them with successful marketing campaigns like our “Keep the Cheer Here” campaign!
