Christmas in Opelika
Christmas in Opelika is a truly special time of year. Our partners at the City of Opelika go all out to decorate our beautiful downtown, including the bridges, trees and light poles. It's a spectacular season that is sure to bring joy to your heart. Opelika's "Very Merry Christmas" encompasses events hosted by the City, Parks & Recreation, the Opelika Public Library & much more. We hope you'll visit us in December! At the Opelika Chamber, we do our part in helping make Opelika a Christmas destination by kicking off the Christmas season with the SNOPELIKA Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting! People enjoy a winter wonderland as artificial snow falls through Courthouse Square ending with a magical tree lighting ceremony of he tallest tree in town! Thousands of local citizens attend to celebrate every year, with visitors traveling around the area!
PARADE ENTRY DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 22ND
SNOPELIKA & CHRISTMAS PARADE
Opelika’s annual Christmas Parade will take place right before SNOPELIKA at 5:30pm! Thousands of local citizens attended last year's NIGHT PARADE to see over 90 parade entries and enjoy all of the festivities of the night! Different themed floats as well as local marching bands parade through the downtown streets as they lead everyone to Courthouse Square for the SNOPELIKA snowfall!
This event allows chamber members an opportunity for recognition in the community through sponsorship opportunities as well as participating in the parade.
THE TALLEST CHRISTMAS TREE IN TOWN
This Christmas, Opelika is lighting up with something truly spectacular—a brand new, 72-foot-tall Christmas tree for the official SNOPELIKA Tree Lighting! As Alabama’s tallest Christmas tree, and the tallest within a 50-mile radius, this towering beauty will shine as the heart of our charming, Hallmark-like town. Opelika, your ultimate Christmas Destination, comes together for this magical moment that unites our community and fills the town with small-town holiday spirit.Â
